چکیده

Coalitional games, including Coalition Structure Generation (CSG), have been attracting considerable attention from the AI research community. Traditionally, the input of a coalitional game is a black-box function called a characteristic function. Previous studies have found that many problems in coalitional games tend to be computationally intractable in this black-box function representation. Recently, several concise representation schemes for a characteristic function have been proposed. Among them, a synergy coalition group (SCG) has several good characteristics, but its representation size tends to be large compared to other representation schemes. We propose a new concise representation scheme for a characteristic function based on a Zerosuppressed Binary Decision Diagram (ZDD) and a SCG. We show our scheme (i) is fully expressive, (ii) can be exponentially more concise than the SCG representation, (iii) can solve core-related problems in polynomial time in the number of nodes, and (iv) can solve a CSG problem reasonably well by utilizing a MIP formulation. A Binary Decision Diagram (BDD) has been used as unified infrastructure for representing/manipulating discrete structures in such various domains in AI as data mining and knowledge discovery. Adapting this common infrastructure brings up the opportunity of utilizing abundant BDD resources and cross-fertilization with these fields.

Representation of coalitional games with algebraic decision diagrams

With the advent of algorithmic coalitional game theory, it is important to design coalitional game representation schemes that are both compact and efficient with respect to solution concept computation. To this end, we propose a new representation for coalitional games, which is based on Algebraic Decision Diagrams (ADDs). Our representation is fully expressive, compact for many games of pract...

Chain Reduction for Binary and Zero-Suppressed Decision Diagrams

Chain reduction enables reduced ordered binary decision diagrams (BDDs) and zero-suppressed binary decision diagrams (ZDDs) to each take advantage of the others’ ability to symbolically represent Boolean functions in compact form. For any Boolean function, its chain-reduced ZDD (CZDD) representation will be no larger than its ZDD representation, and at most twice the size of its BDD representat...

Symbolic Representations and Analysis of Large Probabilistic Systems

This paper describes symbolic techniques for the construction, representation and analysis of large, probabilistic systems. Symbolic approaches derive their efficiency by exploiting high-level structure and regularity in the models to which they are applied, increasing the size of the state spaces which can be tackled. In general, this is done by using data structures which provide compact stor...

Partially-shared zero-suppressed multi-terminal BDDs: concept, algorithms and applications

Multi-Terminal Binary Decision Diagrams (MTBDDs) are a well accepted technique for the state graph (SG) based quantitative analysis of large and complex systems specified by means of high-level model description techniques. However, this type of Decision Diagram (DD) is not always the best choice, since finite functions with small satisfaction sets, and where the fulfilling assignments possess ...
